The Asclepius Project

A European network for safer medication management

The Asclepius Project is an independent European network of hospital pharmacy professionals and experts working together to advance safer, more efficient and more sustainable medication management.

The project focuses particularly on the transition towards digital, automated and Closed Loop Medication Management in hospitals. By bringing together experience from different healthcare systems, hospitals and professional backgrounds, the network aims to turn practical experience into shared knowledge.

GPP Support is one of the founding partners of the Asclepius Project and actively contributes to its international activities, publications and knowledge exchange.

From practical experience to shared knowledge

Hospitals across Europe face many of the same challenges when modernising medication management: improving medication safety, dealing with workforce shortages, integrating digital systems and automation, redesigning workflows and demonstrating the value of new technologies.

The Asclepius Project creates a platform for hospital pharmacy experts to exchange real-world experience across countries and healthcare systems.

Rather than promoting one technology or one model, the project explores how digitalisation, automation and process redesign can contribute to safer and more effective medication management. Closed Loop Medication Management is an important part of this transition, connecting digital information, automation and clinical workflows across the medication process.
